The job of the Summarizer is to prepare a brief summary of today's reading. The summary covers the key points, main highlights and general idea of today's reading assignment. Any thoughts, ideas, questions or other connections made may be presented during this time as well. Commenters reflect and reply according to how the content is presented.

The Connector's Job is to:
find connections between the book/text your group is reading and the world outside. Connect the reading to your own life, to happenings at school or in the community to similar events at other times and places, to other people or problems that you are reminded of, and to other events, people and places in literature. Whatever the reading connects you with is worth sharing!

The Connector is important because:
Comprehension is “making meaning” of texts.
Students find it difficult to comprehend or make meaning when they lack: •A repertoire of comprehension strategies •Background knowledge of the content •Knowledge of the structures and features of the text •A purpose for engaging with the text Making Connections is a strategy that can assist in connections between: •Text and self •Text and text •Text and world |
Artifact
A puzzle for the Literature Circle to solve as a whole and discuss why certain parts from the text make text-world, text-self, or text-text connections. It creates a great review over the content and opens up many opportunities for students to feed off others ideas and make more meaning of the assigned readings.
